ITS A ZIPPER!!!

I had a fun filled weekend in phoenix with my cousin! Even tho it was 104! thank goodness for pools!
The pic above is my newest challenge, a bag with a zipper!!! We had never done one before---and decided to tackle it. The class was SOOO reasonable....we just couldnt pass it up. After almost a year of making bags it was time. ahhh....it felt good too. I love these amy butler fabs. its also my first time using butler (i think). I also learned how to make these fun corn bags. You can heat them or cool them in the freezer. Im totally addicted to the frozen ones. This is for my sons teacher for appreciation week and dang its C-U-T-E!
I made one hell of a label (if i dont say so myself) with "bags by bobbi" and the bag instructions. Its scary how easy these are and FUN!! Matt wants me to make a few with their own labels --- so his brother wont steal it. LOL

I also have decided to make a bunch for my son when he starts football training soon. Its 2 weeks of hell in may, then august is FULL ON hell for another 2 weeks. hopefully these will help with his leg cramps. I told AJ tonite about my plan---he says "mom, you should make a bunch and sell them to the guys at school. 50bucks....25 to make and 25 to feel gooooodddd!" hilarious!

Anyhoo......its so much fun being crafty. its gotta be the best hobby for a working mom. Its a nice outlet from a hectic day or kids being cantankerus (sp). You can dive into your sewing and lose a few hours....gain back some mental happiness. what can i say....its some pretty expensive therapy!

I cant wait to start making my xmas list and start working on gifts. ive got a few ideas under my belt, and what a better way to say I LOVE YA than a homemade gift.

To all the moms out there---HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

Sports

I love being one of those moms who cheers on her kids and team members! In highschool, there was a guy we all adored, Brent, whose mom was that mom you just adored. she screamed, hooted and hollered for each and every kid on the team. the guys all lived at their house. she treated them all like her own sons. I can only hope i would be that loved by my kids' friends. There is nothing more fullfilling than going to your kids game and seeing him look for you in the stands. smile when he see's you.....then try that much harder to impress you!

Brents mom passed away suddenly during highschool and brents friends were at her caskets side. Ive thought of those moments through out the years and only hoped i could be like her one day. The mom all the kids love!

Life is good today-and tomorrow will be even better. It so easy to get caught up and wine and complain about running here and there during the week with the kids, but after a nite like tonite, its all worth it! The look on my babies face as he strikes a friend out in their first baseball game was priceless. Then he looks over and smiles REAL big at you cuz your watching. thats what it is all about! the love of a family!

TEA PARTY

Today was a day that all i could think of is....wow....im proud to be an american. truly proud. i saw people stand up for what they believe in....one BAD ASS country! If any of you noticed, all of the tea parties were peaceful. Americans in red/white/blue. i even saw a young lady dressed as the statue of liberty. They held up signs that were pretty funny too. My fav was a poster of George Washington with the logo on it WTF? How true is that!?!?! WTF is going on in our nation? Why is it acceptable that we have lost all control? I am praying that we are able to find a balance in our nation before it gets to be a full blown american revolution. Although i loved watching Glen Beck today at the Alamo in Texas. TX wants to sucede from the nation and be a country in its own. If so, I AM THERE! Texas is the proudest state ive ever visited. And ive been to a lot of states. Everyone has a flag pole with the texas and american flag. all business' have the flags flying proud and free.

Speaking of states, ive been to quite a few in my years and still have never found that perfect one to live in. I dream of colorado, but have never been there. weird huh? my dream is semi country living. Need to be near a city, but dont want to live in the heart of one. I wouldnt mind a smaller town even outside a larger one. Im spoiled, i need shops and culture and good food. Im done with heat, im done with cold. SO my friends, where is that perfect spot? I fear ill never find out! but when that day comes that i get to escape the desert again, im praying i find it. Green grass and happy people. thats not a lot to ask for. proud americans-hell its sounding like texas. so much for escaping heat!

moral of the story is stand proud today my peeps. stand up for what you believe in. be an american today and fight for our future. PROUD AMERICAN OUTTTT!!!

Friends

I have those friends who i can barely live without, but they all are FAR FAR away! Why is it the best ones you have are the ones you link up with early in life? thank god for things like the internet, email, blackberrys, blogs, webcams, facebook, cellphones with unlimited minutes........or id never make it in life! but how do you find new friends? most of my close close friends and family are states away.....i have made a few truly great friends here, but i want new ones. i want crafty ones. i want someone with common interests....to go to lunch with on a lazy rainy saturday (like today). Maybe when i move to a diff neighborhood ill find that gal pal. for now, ill just live day to day like ive been doing for years.....on the phone and internet 24/7. LOL

Metallica

As i sit here with my 16y/o son...awaiting Metallica to be inducted....i cant help thinking how cool it is to like a lot of the same music as my kids. Its funny to think of my parents and what they made me listen to. Country western.....which was ICK to me back then and Paul Harvey-good day! Here i am approaching my 40s and thinking how COOL it is that my son wants ME to go to metallica with him....and im ALL OVER IT! I remember the day he started really getting into music and he and I went through my CD's. I gave him his first Ozzy CD and told him someday he would enjoy it. Now I am the one raiding his CDs and itunes. Times sure have changed, but i think for the better. As parents we seem to share more with our kids than our parents ever did. Im greatful every day for having something in common with my kids. Ive always had a passion for music and spent a lot of time as a teenager in my friends basement while they formed their band, which later became semi-famous in the midwest. Even had a band member break away and find fame. Those were good times...good times.....

So heres to you METALLICA! ROCK ON!!!!

Deportation-funny kid story

Kids say the funniest things. so ive decided to blog a few and hopefully someday ill make a blog book so i can remember them all.

Funny Matt story. See, none of us were born here but Matt. Well I guess his little mind was spinning one day and he asked me "Mom, could they ever deport dad back to New jersey?"
After laughing.....for about 10mn i finally was brave enough to ask why. his reply "well he was born there?" I guess he was in 3rd grade at the time. I think he was a little nervous he would be left all alone in Nevada....his homeland. I still get the giggles when i think of that.

I had to explain how we are 1 big country even though we have a ton of states....in the end we are all US citizens.

Sometimes I forget the kids are listening to fox news as we have it on Oreilly or Hannity and listening to those all important stories about our great nation.

Feta cheese spread

I had an Italian friend years ago who gave me some GREAT recipes....and i still love her for it. Francesca, i miss ya girl.

Heres a great one to make and put on fresh french bread, toasted pita or pita chips, crackers....you name it!

Feta Cheese Spread
1-2 pkgs of flavored feta cheese crumbles-tomato basil is my fav
bunch of greens of onions chopped (eye ball how much you want)
drizzle with olive oil
pepper

THATS IT! mix this up and put on some fresh bread....YUMMO!

im sewing today, so ill be posting another bag soon :)

breakfast quiche

ive had such a whirlwind week.....being worried about fargo and being BEYOND busy at work. im going to make some breakfast quiche for my family this am and then sew. I need my craftin therapy today.

here is an EASY quiche recipe

1 pie tin with already store made crust (cuz who has the patience to make her own??)
5 eggs
browned sausage links-cut up into chunks
onions-how ever many you want. could be green ends, could be white-to your own taste
3/4 c halfnhalf or milk
1/2 tsp dry mustard (cuz i gotta have my mustard)
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
cheese (i just dump some preshredded)

BAKE 375 for 30-45mn

you cant get much easier than that! i always make 2 cuz the first one goes quick, then we munch on the second one for another hour or so.

I have a huge breakfast family! although we cant eat right away, we love to make a big ol midwesternish breakfast. Im talking hashbrowns, eggs, bagels, breakfast burritos, you name it.

Years ago we went to a family members house for vacation. well they dont cook much....so we went and bought the goods and made them breakfast for a couple days in a row. i think thats why they want us to come back!

ive been watching the news and it looks like the river is still holding strong.....some friends have already evacuated and my family is all still ok. even if some of them have to bunk in with other family members, its always a party. An Evac party-i can see it now. Pinochle, FOOD FOOD FOOD and a few beers. MAN i miss my family! even in a crisis, we can still laugh until someone has to change their panties. (i know this from personal experience)

happy saturday!

ive been addicted to the news all day about my hometown, Fargo. 43 feet...unimaginable! i even had insomnia about it last nite. where is the ark that noah built? cuz they will be needing it SOON.

My boys have this huge heart that i just adore. My younger son just asked how a mom of a friend was doing because she had been sick. he is now writing his report, smiling at me every few minutes and even just gave me a wink. THATS how you end a LONG LONG day!

so godspeed to all the fargo people who are evacuating.....to the rest of you may you all make it through another night dry as my desert.
I am praying for my hometown right now. Fargo. You have to praise those people. they have worked day and nite, nite and day to save that town, each others homes, the livelihood of that quaint little town. I havent seen anyone on the news crying, looting, whining. they are just going day to day as neighbors, as americans, as friends. Its almost like the glennbeck 912 project. we need to come together again as a country....as americans....not against each other but with each other. this country could learn a lesson from people in the midwest of how to be kind to one another and be neighbors.

anyhoo.....if anyone reads this boring little blog, please send a prayer for my hometown!
