Friday night results...and a few fun things.

I am sorry......but this is the only thing i can share with you that i did last night. WHY you say? because its something fun for YOU!!! its my giveaway.......and let me just say its fan-flippin-tastic!!!! (pattin myself on the back)
so why dont i just share some fun things from my week. my mailman came calling and looky what i got! my CUTE pincushion from L at http://livelystitches.blogspot.com/ THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i have a bit of a pincushion fettish (if you all havent noticed). i need a shelf for them. any cute ideas out there for displaying them but keeping them from getting dusty???
the 2nd item i got from my mailman was my siggy blocks. FINALLY....shew...i was getting worried they were taking up residence in ohio. LOL

the last item i will share was a little junk shopping i did last weekend. ive been hunting for one of these tables from the 70s for awhile. the chair was just too cute and screaming to be saved and redone....so for 18 dollars.....YES 18 BUCKAROONIES i got both of them. what a deal huh? im planning on painting the table. ive seen some really fun ones online....diff colors like black, brown, cream, robins egg blue. ill have to get the room for it first.....and of course the chair will also get some much needed TLC.
hope you all had a great FRIDAY NIGHT SEW-IN. be sure and come back tomorrow for my giveaway results! i think you will all be pleasantly surprised to see what ive made.

keeping calm...

last night i had my own little "sew-in"......after a busy week i decided to take some time for myself and relax. my family left and went to a baseball game so i had the entire night alone. WOW that never happens around my house. i figured the most calming way to relax is embroidering. i kicked my feet up, watched the movie MIRACLE with Kurt Russell and made this pillow cover. (i love his ND/MN accent in that movie--plus hockey is just the coolest sport ever!)
i wish you could see the colors of the fabric....pics never do them justice. its a medium gray with the daisy's and i found a gray gingham for the backing. the embroidery is almost the same color as the yellow/green in the daisy. i heart this pillow :)

what are you all doing to relax this summer?

AMERICA

one of my first sewing adventures about 9 years ago was Rag Quilts. they are so easy to make, but time consuming on clipping all those seams!!! i even made the mistake of clogging my dryer vent......LOL
have a happy and safe 4th of july. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

from 110 to 65.....

california.....good times good times. we have been making it a point to go there atleast once during the summer for the past 3 years. we have a favorite spot on the beach, a nice hotel to stay at, and even managed to make our way to the santa monica pier.
do you know Hare Krishnas still cruz the piers? (that would be them to the left.... i used my teenager as an excuse to photograph them)

forrest gump lost his shoes...my tween found them on the pier.

its really hard to go through a 40 degree temperature change. california was nice...cloudy and cool...but nice. it did hinder our beach plans a little, but there is so much more to see.
hope you are all enjoying your summer and taking a vacation.....even if its a small one.

Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to my husband, Tony. I couldn't have ever asked for a better man to father my children.

Since they were little, he has always taken them under his wing. Been a dad, a friend, a buddy, a pal. He has a special bond with both the boys....each in their own way. My youngest is his mini-me....my oldest looks up to his dad now in a "grown man" kind of way. He wants to follow in his dads footsteps in life....What a compliment!!!

My husband is an avid golfer, and a pretty good one too. We are all hoping the day comes that he can get on that pro circuit.....then i can travel the country with him and shop hop! LOL

He played in a golf tournament yesterday and wore this "costume". But to him.....its his heritage. His family has the Scottish pride and would probably dress like this everyday if they wouldn't get arrested.

So to you, Tony, happy fathers day. keep up the good work because our boys are turning into quite the honorable young men.......
