Deportation-funny kid story

Kids say the funniest things. so ive decided to blog a few and hopefully someday ill make a blog book so i can remember them all.

Funny Matt story. See, none of us were born here but Matt. Well I guess his little mind was spinning one day and he asked me "Mom, could they ever deport dad back to New jersey?"
After laughing.....for about 10mn i finally was brave enough to ask why. his reply "well he was born there?" I guess he was in 3rd grade at the time. I think he was a little nervous he would be left all alone in Nevada....his homeland. I still get the giggles when i think of that.

I had to explain how we are 1 big country even though we have a ton of states....in the end we are all US citizens.

Sometimes I forget the kids are listening to fox news as we have it on Oreilly or Hannity and listening to those all important stories about our great nation.

Feta cheese spread

I had an Italian friend years ago who gave me some GREAT recipes....and i still love her for it. Francesca, i miss ya girl.

Heres a great one to make and put on fresh french bread, toasted pita or pita chips, crackers....you name it!

Feta Cheese Spread
1-2 pkgs of flavored feta cheese crumbles-tomato basil is my fav
bunch of greens of onions chopped (eye ball how much you want)
drizzle with olive oil
pepper

THATS IT! mix this up and put on some fresh bread....YUMMO!

im sewing today, so ill be posting another bag soon :)

breakfast quiche

ive had such a whirlwind week.....being worried about fargo and being BEYOND busy at work. im going to make some breakfast quiche for my family this am and then sew. I need my craftin therapy today.

here is an EASY quiche recipe

1 pie tin with already store made crust (cuz who has the patience to make her own??)
5 eggs
browned sausage links-cut up into chunks
onions-how ever many you want. could be green ends, could be white-to your own taste
3/4 c halfnhalf or milk
1/2 tsp dry mustard (cuz i gotta have my mustard)
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
cheese (i just dump some preshredded)

BAKE 375 for 30-45mn

you cant get much easier than that! i always make 2 cuz the first one goes quick, then we munch on the second one for another hour or so.

I have a huge breakfast family! although we cant eat right away, we love to make a big ol midwesternish breakfast. Im talking hashbrowns, eggs, bagels, breakfast burritos, you name it.

Years ago we went to a family members house for vacation. well they dont cook much....so we went and bought the goods and made them breakfast for a couple days in a row. i think thats why they want us to come back!

ive been watching the news and it looks like the river is still holding strong.....some friends have already evacuated and my family is all still ok. even if some of them have to bunk in with other family members, its always a party. An Evac party-i can see it now. Pinochle, FOOD FOOD FOOD and a few beers. MAN i miss my family! even in a crisis, we can still laugh until someone has to change their panties. (i know this from personal experience)

happy saturday!

ive been addicted to the news all day about my hometown, Fargo. 43 feet...unimaginable! i even had insomnia about it last nite. where is the ark that noah built? cuz they will be needing it SOON.

My boys have this huge heart that i just adore. My younger son just asked how a mom of a friend was doing because she had been sick. he is now writing his report, smiling at me every few minutes and even just gave me a wink. THATS how you end a LONG LONG day!

so godspeed to all the fargo people who are evacuating.....to the rest of you may you all make it through another night dry as my desert.
I am praying for my hometown right now. Fargo. You have to praise those people. they have worked day and nite, nite and day to save that town, each others homes, the livelihood of that quaint little town. I havent seen anyone on the news crying, looting, whining. they are just going day to day as neighbors, as americans, as friends. Its almost like the glennbeck 912 project. we need to come together again as a country....as americans....not against each other but with each other. this country could learn a lesson from people in the midwest of how to be kind to one another and be neighbors.

anyhoo.....if anyone reads this boring little blog, please send a prayer for my hometown!

I cant believe im blogging....or thats what i keep telling myself. I have recently discovered i can sew. Isnt that the coolest thing ever? Its my sanity at times. I love love love my busy house but needed that outlet to keep me on track. Now im obsessed and cant seem to find the time to sew, but when i have time im not in the mood? weird, yeah i know.
I live in the desert, but am a midwest girl at heart. i miss green grass, trees, snow (at times), a good rocking thunderstorm and my windows open at nite.

OH-----and I love to ramble...so welcome to my world.

funny story for the day:
so today, im talking to my boss and we are under extreme pressure. see, im a money mover. it sucks. well, as usual we are behind. so my funny personality kicks in (the smith in me) and i tell my boss" i hope this isnt tooooo inappropriate, but ill pull WONDER WOMAN out of my arce to get the job done today". She laughed thank god and im still giggling, cuz come on people, it was funny.

sit, relax, poor some wine (junie joke) and laugh at life with me.
