Its my Bag-anniversary!

1 year ago I entered the bag world....the bag obsession....the bag making craze. My sister Kristie who lives in montana started the bag thing a few years ago at christmas. she made me the CUTEST charm tote (penny sturgis/quilts illustrated) design. Well, my cousin Heidi fell in love with it, bought some patterns and continued the bag craze. finally, last august i was forced (haha) to learn how to make them. Heidi patiently taught me how....and it only took me 5 hours to make this tiny little thing, but I havent looked back! I LOVE making them! If I only had more time ......argghh.

So today I get a fun box in the mail from Kristie and looky what she sent me!

isnt it CUTE! i had bought a smaller caddy in phoenix a few months back and use it ALL the time. she MADE this....and its going on my ironing table. Kristie is good....let me tell you. she can look at something and VIOLA its made in a few hours. Heidi is that way too.....they truly are my idols! they both have branched out beyond bags....but me....well I just need to spend more time doing it. im still trying to talk myself into making a quilt!

its such mental therapy. having a busy family is great, but I truly need some bobbi time once in awhile. But dont we all???

Maybe ill get brave enough to have a give away soon....to celebrate my accomplishments. stay tuned bloggers.

Proud mom football bag!

Here is the "footballmom" bag i made last year. My son plays highschool football.....and a woman needs her bag to tote all her fun football gear to the games. I put his number on one side and the F for the HS and falcons on the other side. The whole thing was done in his HS colors. I cant wait to dig it out again in a month......cuz 2 a days is only 2 weeks away. Poor kid...but ive never been a prouder parent. He was determined to play last year (after never playing football a day in his life). he lost a ton of weight and bulked up. now he is sportin' a jock bod, a big neck and a mohawk.
Isnt my baby adorable and mean looking all at the same time. LOL

AJ is truly a great kid with a great heart and i know will go places in life. He is actually tossing around the military right now....but we have 2 years left of HS, so for now we play football and mom screams in the stands. GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOT HUSKER?

yes....we have more husker gifts. my boss asked me to make a blanket and pillows for her grandson who is due in a few weeks. she had found the fabs, bought what she "thought" she needed per some doofuss at joanns and brought me a bag of goodies. well, lets just say if you ever want anyone to make something for you, leave it to THEM to buy the goods. it turned out really cute, but OH MY GOD.....OMG....ill never work with fleece AND fabric again. then add in the silky binding to just put it over the top.

I must have enough experience under my belt tho....YES I AM BRAGGING cuz it got done. im telling ya, this material makes you a cornhusker fan. its SOOO cute. this baby will never get cold under this blanket. the nice thing about it, i made it HUGE so they can use it until they are in college. (per my boss's measurements again).

the pillows were a piece of cake. i made the cover with a flap so it can be removed and washed. i just eyeballed the pillow and got the measurements right on my first try. im so proud of myself!

so....what should i make next? i know i know....i have got to do the quilt thing soon. i have a list of xmas presents i would like to do...and they involve quilting. GULP

diaper bag...

I made this for my boss at work. her family are huge nebraska cornhusker fans and she has a new grandson on the way. they wanted a husker bag....so here it is. it turned out SOOO cute!! its a big bag, but when your toting their every need around town, you need BIG. am i right moms?

I thought ok, black red and white for a baby....but its adorable! The proud daddy wont have any quams carrying this diaper bag around town either to show off his bundle of joy AND his love for the huskers!

I also added this as a surprise for my boss. i had some leftover fabs, so thought why not...she needs a cute husker bag herself.
it was her bday...and i think im now the teachers pet. heehee
It makes me wish i was a cornhusker fan...but what i want to know is WTF is a cornhusker?

zipper pouch

I made this zipper pouch and it was sooo EASY to make!! the pattern came from lazy girl designs. I cant wait to make some more in fun fabs for some xmas presents. this is the medium size, but what i would love to do for coworkers is make these in fun xmas fabs with maybe a starbucks gift card. fun idea eh?

Ive had all week alone, no kiddies, and this was all i made. LOL. I just stared at my machine-but come monday when im back at work ill be thinking of ALL the things i shouldve made. oh well, thats life right?

and....we have....a PURSE!

yes folks...its a purse. its a modified version of a pattern i found. adorable eh? im also in LOVE with these amy butler fabrics. very summery. makes me want to go cruz the mall and make all the ladies jealous. muahahaha.

ive spent the day rearranging my house so i can have a sewing spot. its a corner in the living room against my better judgement, cuz my puppy (yellow lab who is 1 1/2 but still a puppy) loves to eat things. im hoping he has outgrown that nasty habit long enough to stay away from my sewing zone. but hey, i could always use a new machine.

im patiently waiting for my butler fabs i bought from ebay. you know ebay...the devils playhouse? omg i curse the person who invented that and paypal. its truly evil to have items that handy-without ever leaving your house. ok i have to walk 3 houses down to get my mail-but thats just still a little TOOOO handy for me. ill have to get rid of my account soon. my fabric stash is growing by leaps and bounds....and as i explained before i just dont have the room for more fabric. gulp...did i really say that?

this weekend im off to phoenix to see what my sewing buddy Heidi has in store for me. we both have a few pattern/surprises for one another. we are hoping to sneak in a few hours of sewing, but with a houseful of people for the 4th of july not sure what we will get done. friday nite we had a "sew in". does this mean we are old ladies now? we both worked on the same project via our blackberrys and finished a quick project together. we are now going to do it atleast once a month. next time, im making margaritas. LOL. i truly wont be drinking alone right? here was our project. this is the bag i modified. this is from a pattern from Sweet Pea Totes. her patterns are adorable!

have a happy 4th of july everyone out there in bloggerville. GOD BLESS AMERICA! God Bless our Troops also because they are the true reason we can celebrate our continued freedom in this crazy world we live in. USA USA USA USA

I am SOOO excited to reveal my new fun bag!! I actually came up with this myself. NO, i cant give myself ALL the credit because it is very close to another bag ive made but i changed a few things and added a bobbi touch. I also added a label!!! THANK YOU HEIDI for the fun label idea! THANK YOU KRISTIE for the bag obsession! ive always been a bag fan...love em....love to carry em....love to buy em....now i LOVE LOVE making them. i dont have a big fan base here, but i live in vegas where everyone is carrying couch, prada etc. someday they just might appreciate a good handmade bag. but hey, this way i get to keep them all for me me me.

on the pocket it says "bags by bobbi" with a cute daisy-cuz daisys are my thing. heck, i even have one tatted on top of my foot.

this one was SO fun and easy to create. i love the wild leopard and denim---denim will never get old. I havent sewn much lately but i think this lit the fire back under my arce! I could stay home every day and create. its just too hard after work, after dinner, after dishes. the 2day weekend thing just rarely works cuz im running kids, doing the shopping, doing laundry and trying to stay up late to sew. Creating takes the back seat in my life right now and i hate it!!! But i do love being a mom....and I know that my kids are growing up so flippin fast that i must enjoy this time right now.

so ill quit my whining and just say happy summer. happy sewing. HANDMADE BAGS ROCK

ITS A ZIPPER!!!

I had a fun filled weekend in phoenix with my cousin! Even tho it was 104! thank goodness for pools!
The pic above is my newest challenge, a bag with a zipper!!! We had never done one before---and decided to tackle it. The class was SOOO reasonable....we just couldnt pass it up. After almost a year of making bags it was time. ahhh....it felt good too. I love these amy butler fabs. its also my first time using butler (i think). I also learned how to make these fun corn bags. You can heat them or cool them in the freezer. Im totally addicted to the frozen ones. This is for my sons teacher for appreciation week and dang its C-U-T-E!
I made one hell of a label (if i dont say so myself) with "bags by bobbi" and the bag instructions. Its scary how easy these are and FUN!! Matt wants me to make a few with their own labels --- so his brother wont steal it. LOL

I also have decided to make a bunch for my son when he starts football training soon. Its 2 weeks of hell in may, then august is FULL ON hell for another 2 weeks. hopefully these will help with his leg cramps. I told AJ tonite about my plan---he says "mom, you should make a bunch and sell them to the guys at school. 50bucks....25 to make and 25 to feel gooooodddd!" hilarious!

Anyhoo......its so much fun being crafty. its gotta be the best hobby for a working mom. Its a nice outlet from a hectic day or kids being cantankerus (sp). You can dive into your sewing and lose a few hours....gain back some mental happiness. what can i say....its some pretty expensive therapy!

I cant wait to start making my xmas list and start working on gifts. ive got a few ideas under my belt, and what a better way to say I LOVE YA than a homemade gift.

To all the moms out there---HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
